Thanksgiving was first celebrated as a harvest festival and is only celebrated in the United States, Canada and the Netherlands. Canada celebrates Thanksgiving on the second Monday in October. Here in America Thanksgiving is always celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November.
It was on December 26, 1941 that President Roosevelt signed a bill into law establishing Thanksgiving as a national holiday setting it at the fourth Thursday in November.
