When I came across these images for the first time the first thing I thought of was that they looked like the artwork on the back of a playing card.
The US Playing Card Company is the biggest manufacturer of playing cards. Founded in Cincinnati in 1867 by a general printing company in 1880 they started making playing cards. About 20 employees began making 1600 sets of cards a day. The Bicycle brand was created in 1885 and by 1891 they were selling so many sets of cards they changed their name to US Playing Card Company. Bicycle cards became the most recognizable playing cards in the world and their cards are 100% made in the USA.
