With wingspans of nearly ten feet swans are one of the largest flying birds. Northern swans are usually white while southern swans have mixed black and white feathers. The Australian Black Swan is completely black except for the white feathers underneath their wings.
Swans build their nests on the ground near water. Male swans help with the construction of the nest as well as the incubation of the eggs.
