Vintage Keys Background

I made something for you today!

I feel like I'm back in school and bringing home some artwork I made.  I've been playing around with images and here is what I have for you:  vintage keys on a distressed background in two different colors.

UPDATE:  I've had comments that the images cannot be found when clicked on.  I have tweaked the image gallery for this blog so hopefully this corrects the problem that some of you are having accessing the images!

Here's the antique, aged background

And here are the same keys on a distressed pink background

How come they don't make keys like this any more?  It would make finding the right key so much easier.

When I began playing around with the background and distressing it for you I decided that the aged, antique background might be a little drab so I added my favorite color to it.

There are so many ways for you to use images, I wonder how you will use them?  I hope to be bringing you more of my creations in the near future as I continue to explore new things to do with all of these wonderful vintage images.

Free Vintage Clip Art - More Vintage Backgrounds

More Vintage Backgrounds

Lady Mary Elizabeth Bennett introduced the pansy to the world in 1812 by cross breeding a large variety of plants and came up with the pansy.  The next year two horticulturists continued to cultivate the pansy.  By 1833 there were 400 kinds of pansies available to gardeners.

Pansies are hardy little plants and are even available here in the Pacific Northwest as winter pansies that continue to grow and bloom during our mild winter months.

When I discovered this lovely pansy background I knew I had to share it

Forget Me Nots

Ever wonder about how Forget Me Nots got their name?  According to legend when the Baby Jesus was sitting on his mother's lap he told her he wished that future generations could see her eyes.  He touched her eyes and then waved his hand over the ground in front of them and suddenly beautiful blue flowers appeared.

Henry IV adopted Forget Me Nots while in exile in 1398.  In 15th century Germany it was believed that if you wore Forget Me Nots your lover would never forget you and they were often worn by ladies as a sign of faithfulness and enduring love.

Free Vintage Clip Art - Claude Monet's Water Lilies

Monet's Water Lilies

Oscar Claude Monet (1840-1926) was the father of French Impressionism.  All through his life Monet painted in series of subjects.  Water Lilies was painted in 1916 and was a series based on his own pond in his backyard.

Monet died in 1926 at the age of 86.  His son donated Claude Monet's home, garden and waterlily pond to the French Academy of Fine Arts in 1966.  Following restoration, Monet's house and gardens were opened to the public in 1980.

Nympheas - Water Lilies, another painting in the Water Lilies series, sold for over $71 million dollars.

Free Vintage Clip Art - Pretty Flower Backgrounds

Sunflower and Fuchsia Backgrounds

The sunflower is native to Central America and was domesticated 2600 BC and was found in the Mississippi Valley in Tennessee in 2300 BC.  The Aztecs and the Incas used the sunflower as the symbol for their sun gods.

Sunflower oil, which is extracted from the seeds, is used for cooking as well as used to make margarine and bio-diesel fuel because it is cheaper than olive oil.  Sunflowers also produce latex and research is being conducted currently to see if the sunflower could be an alternative crop for hypoallergenic rubber.

Wow, very interesting!

Sunflowers are also used to absorb and extract toxins from soil and were successfully used to extract radiation from a pond near the Chernobyl nuclear facility.

Even more reasons to love the sunflower!
