Hood Advertising Label
The C.I. Hood Company sold a wide variety of over the counter medicines and by 1897 the company had the largest laboratory in the world dedicated to the manufacturer of patent medicine. The 175,000 square foot, five story building contained a state of the art bottling machine that could produce 10,000 bottles per day for their various elixirs.
Hood's advertising department took up almost half of their giant building. Their printing room contained eighteen printing presses, two newspaper presses and a color printing press that was the largest in the world! Their presses produced trade cards, jigsaw puzzles, posters, games, cookbooks, pamphlets and newsletters.
